Flavors of Wedding Cake: What's The Truth Behind

All of us want everything about our wedding to be just perfect. While we get busy deciding the cake topper, all of us completely forget about the wedding cake flavor. Mocha, vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry - the choices are unlimited.

But before deciding the flavor it is very important to know the truth about wedding cake flavor before you dispose them off as a petty task. Picking one is a lot more than just a simple inky-pinky-ponky. You need to put a lot of thought and consideration and make sure you pick something that not only is liked by your groom but is equally enjoyed by your guests as well.

Here are some tips that will help you choose the wedding cake flavor.

Keep it relevant to your theme

If you have a wedding theme for your wedding, the best idea would be to incorporate the flavor of the cake and make it relevant with the wedding theme. For example, if you are planning a beach wedding, the flavor of your cake can be something exotic and tropical like coconut. If you and your husband both are vegetarians and that is the theme of your wedding, you may go for a carrot flavored cake. Flavors like vanilla and chocolate would work best if you are having a traditional and classic wedding.

Color correction

As important is the flavor of the cake, so is the color. If your wedding theme has a lot of brown and pink colors, a chocolate cake with a strawberry frosting would be an excellent choice. If your wedding colors are green, a pistachio wedding cake would be excellent. Here are some more options that you can consider:

White – Vanilla, coconut
Yellow – Peach, Pineapple, Lemon
Brown – Mocha, Almond, Coffee, Cappuccino
Green – Lime, Pear, Mint
Pink – Cherry, Cranberry
Blue – Blueberry
Red – Apple

Emotional quotient

A cake flavor can also mean digging into your past memories with your would be spouse and deciding a flavor based on that. Did the first time you ever shared a cake was a chocolate flavored one. Did you guys’ dessert on a strawberry cake after he proposed to you. Choosing a cake based on emotional value will hence make it much dearer to you and to your groom.

Money concerns

Cakes don’t come cheap, especially the tired wedding ones. So do set a budget to the cake if you want to avoid overspending. Also remember the price of the cake also depends on his flavor. The more exotic the flavor is, the pricier it generally is. So set a budget and make sure you stick to it.

Explore more options

Nobody asked you to just stick to the usual chocolate, vanilla and butter cream. The options are endless. There are a lot of variations which you would like to explore and try on. Try fudgy chocolate, marble, coconut, pumpkin, spice, orange, dark chocolate, rum, peppermint, peach, caramel, mango, blueberry, lime, banana, lemon poppy seed, white chocolate etc.
