Wedding Insurance for Wedding Cake

Wedding CakeWedding insurance can protect your wedding cake against theft or damage. Cheap wedding insurance may seem like a good idea when you're trying to make your wedding more economical, but this could mean your wedding cake is not protected financially.

Wedding cakes are an essential part of your wedding day, which is why it’s so important that your wedding insurance policy secures your wedding cake against damage or theft. Thankfully the wedding cake isn't the only decorative part of your wedding which is covered by wedding insurance; your wedding flowers, wedding attire, rings, gifts and suppliers are usually included under the policy.

Wedding insurance can be tailored to meet your needs, much like a wedding cake should fit the specifications of your big day. You can choose different sizes, styles and flavours of wedding cake which will best suit you and your guests.

Size
Although the traditional idea of a wedding cake is an imposing tower of royal icing, you don't have to follow tradition. You can have a wedding cake as large or as small as you like, as long as you take out a wedding insurance policy with the right level of cover to protect it.

Style
Formal wedding cakes are usually iced with white royal icing and marzipan, whereas informal cakes tend to be iced with softer icing. Some bride and grooms even choose to have comical figures on top of their cake, rather than the traditional bridal couple. Whether you choose formal, informal or a personal combination of the two for your wedding cake, you should ensure your wedding insurance policy will cover the cake against damage or loss.

Flavour
Fruit cake is an established flavour for wedding cakes, as it keeps well and is a filling dessert as well as a classic cake. Not everyone likes a heavy combination of fruit and spices however, so chocolate, carrot or sponge cakes are increasingly popular. Cupcakes can be an even better option for a wedding cake, as you can have multiple flavours in convenient and pretty little cake cases for your guests.

The size, style and flavour of your wedding cake will contribute enormously to your wedding day. Wedding insurance, however, can protect the sweetness of your big day from going awry.

With the protection of a good wedding insurance policy, you will know that you're protected against theft and loss - so that you can cut the cake with joy.

Flower Wedding Cakes

Wedding CakeThe wedding cake is one of the most important “details” of the wedding celebration. So, it must be captivating, and certainly must be synchronized with the wedding theme. One of the ways to leave a track is to decorate your wedding cake with flowers. In this way, your wedding cake would be unique, certainly will look more elegant and sophisticated; and definitely it will match with the wedding theme. Here are some tips for flower wedding cakes:

Flowers are always the smartest choice

These days the choices for a perfect wedding cake are numerous, and if you could not decide what to have, simply go with flowers decoration. They are always trendy, and definitely the smartest and secure option. You could have a white wedding cake with a topper same as the wedding bouquet. The result that you will get is less expensive cake, but highly elegant and stunning wedding cake.

Flowers could tell interesting meanings and stories

Something that will definitely be remembered is if your flower wedding cake has a meaning or a story that tells more about the couple. The bride can go with the flowers that her fiancé has given to her on the proposal, or for her birthday, or anniversary; but no matter which flower will they pick up there will always be a story to tell to everyone. If you could not choose which flower to have on your wedding cake, than you could have all!

Choose a tiered wedding cake, and place layers of flowers between the tiers. Between the first and the second tier you could lay flowers that your fiancé gave you on your first date, that you could place flowers that you had for your first anniversary, and at the top of the tired wedding cake you could have red roses which are a symbol of love. Thus, you will have a fancy tiered wedding cake, but make sure there are not too much flowers on it.

Flowers could be dangerous

Some of the flowers like Lilies, Pink Jasmine, Carnation, Hydrangea, Snowdrop and many more are toxic, and they could affect the wedding cake. Also, many people are allergic to flowers, so you must make a smart decision if you have flower wedding cake. If you chose some of the poisonous flowers, the plastic or silk models of that flower are the best alternative. In my opinion, the edible flowers are the perfect choice for your wedding cake. They are made of icing sugar, and they are same as the original flower. Edible flowers are piece of art, and will absolutely give a spectacular look to your wedding cake.

Wedding cakes decorated with flowers make the wedding cake professional and stunning. If you want elegant and smart wedding cakes, than flowers decorations are the right choice for you.

Cute Wedding Idea: DIY Cake Toppers

Brides today love anything for their wedding that feels unique and handmade. It could be the perfect letterpress invitations made by a tiny press or the unique handcrafted bridesmaid jewelry made in a local boutique. Creating things for your own wedding can also be a lot of fun, and while you may not have a press or know how to make sparkling handcrafted bridesmaid jewelry, any creative bride can DIY something for her celebration. One of the cutest wedding DIY projects is a special wedding cake topper.

Making your own cake topper can be as simple or as involved a project as your experience and interest dictates. The great thing about this project is that you don't have to actually make the whole cake to have a part in how it looks. A simple but charming DIY cake topper is to fill a vintage teacup with an arrangement of roses. "Bloom" the petals of the roses open for a fuller and more lush effect. The teacup cake topper would be absolutely delightful on a vintage inspired tiered cake with a white and ivory swag design. Sometimes the simplest ideas can be just perfect.

If you or your fiance has woodworking skills, this can be another avenue for creating a unique topper for your wedding cake. For a rustic wedding in the woods, whittle a charming wooden squirrel to perch on top of your dessert. Or shape wood into primitive style figures, and hand paint one to be the bride and the other to be the groom. It would be far more special than buying the same plastic bride and groom figurine that thousands of other couples have used before. Let your imagination flow – you could carve a wooden gingerbread couple for a winter wedding, or top your cake with a small log with your initials carved into the side in a heart. Any of these would be just great for a rustic wedding.

Bird motifs tend to be fairly popular among DIY brides. A lovely idea for a cake topper is to create a pair of lovebirds or bluebirds nestled together in a nest. The supplies can be readily found at any craft store. All you need is the nest materials (sometimes you can even find pre-made nests), some moss, two little birdies, and your trusty hot glue gun. Add some tiny velvet flowers to the nest if you wish to dress it up a bit. Adding a veil to the "bride" bird is optional. What a sweet topper for a spring wedding cake.

Brides who happen to own a crafting tool like a Cricut can do all sorts of amazing things for wedding cake toppers. Actually, with a little practice, you might just be able to decorate the entire cake using the intricate fondant shapes created by the wedding cartridges. Another option for brides interested in creating sugar cake toppers is to take a class at a local craft store. Many of the larger stores offer specialty workshops that teach brides how to create the incredible fondant flowers you see in the magazines. This is a more advanced DIY topper project, and as they say, practice makes perfect.

With so many delightful options for a DIY cake topper, it might just be one of the most fun things to make for your wedding. It is a small project, and quite low risk, since you will create it well before the wedding date. Why not try your hand at a unique and creative cake topper for your wedding?

Creative Alternatives to the Tiered Wedding Cake

Wedding CakeNot every wedding calls for a grand tiered wedding cake in a royal style. Some couples prefer a more low-key or unique dessert for their receptions, which is perfectly fine. If your idea of your dream wedding does not include cutting a formal five tiered wedding cake, consider one of these creative alternatives.

One simple idea is to have a deconstructed wedding cake. Maybe you want a cake, but the stacked tiers feel too formal for your entertaining style. Instead of three or five layers stacked into a tower, have each tier on its own stand. Display three or five (odd numbers work best) single layer cakes on fancy cake stands. The effect will be prettiest if the stands are similar, but do not match exactly. You can source an eclectic grouping at vintage stores or yard sales. As for the cakes themselves, they should be decorated in a similar enough fashion that they look like a cohesive unit, but they need not be exact replicas. For instance, a set of five cakes each in a different pastel hue with white ribbon trim would be delightful for a spring afternoon wedding. Separate layers is also a terrific option for the DIY bride, as you will avoid the problems of balancing the tall tiers and also of transporting one large cake.

There is no rule that the wedding dessert has to be cake. A fun trend for very casual weddings is brownie cakes. This would be a a fantastic type of sweet for a casual backyard wedding where the bride is wearing a simple dress with silver wedding jewelry. You have several options: the brownies can be baked and stacked like a layer cake, they can be made into cupcakes, or cut into the traditional squares and displayed on a tiered stand. Make the dessert more decadent by frosting the brownies with a mocha icing, or keep it simple by stenciling the top of the brownies with a powdered sugar design. Either choice will be delicious!

Perhaps you would like to introduce a bit of culture into your wedding reception. A wonderful alternative to the standard white frosted wedding cake is a croquembouche. This is the classic French wedding dessert, and one that is sure to delight your guests. The croquembouche is a tower of stacked profiteroles, which are cream filled pastries. It is not frosted, but is often drizzled with caramel or spun sugar. Threads of chocolate may also be dripped over the pastry tower. If you wish to add a bit of color, tuck a few fresh flowers in between the pastries – but just a few, as the croquembouche is not traditionally very elaborately adorned. Ooh la la!

For a country style wedding reception, fresh fruit cobbler would be a great dessert idea. Serve freshly churned ice cream with the fresh baked cobbler. Seasonal fruits will definitely add to the appeal of this dessert. Peaches, blueberries, and strawberries are among the favorites. Cobbler could be served at the type of wedding where the guests are dressed in sundresses with just a hint of silver wedding jewelry. It would be a good choice to follow a picnic lunch at the wedding reception.

Sometimes couples wonder how they will handle the cake cutting if they do not have a traditional tiered wedding cake. If you have individual cakes, it is a simple enough matter to cut the largest of them. Or pluck off a profiterole from the croquembouche to daintily feed to your new spouse. There will always be a way to have the "cake cutting" part of the reception, even without a traditional wedding cake.
